THE prodigal son has returned to Old Trafford – but Manchester United have had to pay an eye-watering premium to lure Paul Pogba back.

In Life, You have to be very careful of those you push out of your Life because you might have to pay a whole lot to have them back.  This is the True adage that qualifies this Pogba vs Man U Saga.


They received only £800,000 in compensation when the then 18-year-old midfielder walked out at the end of his contract to join Juventus in 2012.

Now, four years later, they have had to spend a world-record £89m to bring him ‘home’ – not to mention agree to a five-year contract worth around £60m.

♦ But why did Pogba leave in the first place?

Pogba, then 19, departed the 20-time English champions in 2012 after refusing the offer of a new contract because he had grown frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at the club.

In the three years since, the midfielder has matured into one of the hottest properties in world football.
Valued at around £70million by Italian giants Juventus, he has helped the Bianconeri to three successive Serie A titles, while also being named Best Young Player at the 2014 World Cup.

United received just £800,000 in compensation for Pogba, who spent three years with the club after signing from French club Le Havre and now they have to tear the purse to get back their golden son.
