A 30-year-old man identified as Emeji Christopher who allegedly sucked the private part of a 9-year-old boy was on Wednesday arraigned before a Lagos Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba. Emeji is standing trial on a one count charge of indecent treatment of a child. Testifying in court, the prosecutor, Insp. Rita Momoh, said Emeji committed the offence in November 2014 at Jaja Hall toilet of the University of Lagos, Akoka. Momoh told the court that Emeji lured the nine-year-old into one of the toilets in the hall where he sucked his genitals. The prosecutor said, ”The police have been on the lookout for the accused following a report by his parents. ”The accused was only apprehended recently after he was seen roaming the university aimlessly.’’ According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. When the charge was read, the accused pleaded not guilty. The Chief Magistrate, Mr P. A. Adeeyo, however granted Emeji bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum. Adeeyo consequently adjourned the case to October12 for substantive trial
