Manchester City keep Iheanacho's EPL debut on ice

The Nigerian youth sensation was not on parade as the Citizens got off their English Premier League campaign to a flying start against West Brom on Monday night Nigeriayouth international, Kelechi Iheanachodid not make his much awaited English Premier League debut for Manchester Cityin their 3-0 away win against West Bromwich Albionon Monday night. A brace from Yaya Toure plus a third from Vincent Kompany was all the Citizen’s needed to cage the Baggies in front of their teeming fans. Although Iheanacho was among the seven listed substitutes by manager Manuel Pellegrini, he watched proceedings from the bench as his team descended heavily on Tony Pulis’s men. With his splendid performance during pre-season for the Etihad giants, where he featured in five games, provided two goals and two assists coupled with Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko’s exit from the club, many had expected the Chilean boss to thrust him into action. Apart from this, the Nigerian seems to have bonded well with new summer signing Raheem Sterling, which strenghtened his case for regular first team action. The former Golden Eaglets star will now hope to earn his first topflight cap when City welcome reigning champions Chelsea to the Etihad on Sunday. Should this become reality, it could just be what the lad needs to draw the attention of Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh into handing him a senior team call up ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania on September 5 in Dar es Salaam.
