Tight Security In Maiduguri As Senate President Visits - Politics -

Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, is again witnessing yet another vehicular restriction as Senate President, Bukola Saraki, pays his first official visit to the war-torn state capital. Mr. Saraki who is expected to arrive at about 11a.m, would be accompanied by top leaders of the Senate, including Ali Ndume, who is the Senate Majority Leader. Mr. Ndume is from Borno state. Also expected on the trip is Abubakar Kyar, who represents Borno North Senatorial District. The Senate President is expected to visit IDP camps in Maiduguri, pay a courtesy call on Governor Kashim Shettima and the Council of Borno state traditional rulers at the Shehu of Borno palace. Security operatives comprising of soldiers, police officers are mounting tight security to, according to state officials, ensure a hitch-free visit. One of the lanes of the dual carriage road leading from the airport has been blocked. Officials say the measure is to ensure easy movement as Mr. Saraki moves in to the town.
