They received only £800,000 in compensation when the then 18-year-old midfielder walked out at the end of his contract to join Juventus in 2012.

Now, four years later, they have had to spend a world-record £89m to bring him ‘home’ – not to mention agree to a five-year contract worth around £60m.

Pogba, then 19, departed the 20-time English champions in 2012 after refusing the offer of a new contract because he had grown frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities at the club.

In the three years since, the midfielder has matured into one of the hottest properties in world football.
Valued at around £70million by Italian giants Juventus, he has helped the Bianconeri to three successive Serie A titles, while also being named Best Young Player at the 2014 World Cup.

United received just £800,000 in compensation for Pogba, who spent three years with the club after signing from French club Le Havre and now they have to tear the purse to get back their golden son.

Paul Pogba has surpassed the £85m deal that saw Gareth Bale move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid in 2013.

Leicester City & Manchester United will be digging it hard at Wembley Today (Sunday 7-August-2016).
Last season’s Premier league champions “Leicester City” will meet FA Cup winners “Manchester United” in the Community Shield at Wembley.
New United manager Jose Mourinho says the trophy will “have meaning” for those of his players who were part of the FA Cup-winning side last season.
“We’re ambitious but know it will be very hard,” added Foxes boss Ranieri.
“I forgot what happened last season. Now my focus is on the new season.”
Leicester have won the traditional season-opener just once, beating Liverpool in 1971, when they were invited to take part as second-tier champions after double winners Arsenal pulled out.
Ranieri says he has a full strength squad to choose from, with forward Jamie Vardy back in training after featuring for England at Euro 2016.
“All managers and players want to play at Wembley Stadium. It’s one of the most famous stadiums in the world,” he said.
“This is not a friendly. We will give the maximum and also Manchester United will too. Both teams want to win it.”

Mourinho, who replaced Louis van Gaal in the week following United’s FA Cup win against Crystal Palace in May, has been left frustrated by his side’s pre-season.
A game against Manchester City in China, scheduled for 25 July, was called off after heavy rain ruined the pitch.
“The week of no work in China was really bad for us,” said Mourinho. “So we need to train, we need to play, we need minutes for the players.
“Now we have no chance to train against other teams. We have Leicester before the Premier League and it is not a training session – it is a game.
“We have to face it as a game. We have the chance to give minutes to some people. Some who I know cannot play for 90 minutes, but of course we are going to try to win it.”

Kelechi Nwakali officially signs 5year deal with Arsenal

Arsenal has completed the signing of Nigeria U-20 skipper Kelechi Nwakali, making him their fourth signing of the summer. The Gunners have completed the signing of Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding thus far in the transfer window and are in the market to complete a couple more before the end of the summer transfer window.

The CEO of ASJ Academy- Nwakali's former Academy, Emeka Amajiriaku, has confirmed that Kelechi Nwakali appended his signature to a five-year deal with Arsenal on Wednesday afternoon.

“Kelechi has signed with Arsenal, it is now a done deal. He signed the contract 3 pm today (Wednesday), ” Amajiriaku told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“His mother and brother were all there. Manchester City loanee Chidiebere Nwakali came all the way from Norway to London to witness his brother signing the contract. ”

Real Madrid Star Rejects To Join Arsenal

Goal reports that Madrid will not enter further talks with Arsenal over a potential transfer.

Juventus chief executive Beppe Marotta has revealed that Alvaro Morata will return to Real Madrid this summer for £23 million. The Spanish club have a buy-back clause on the striker who rose through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and joined Juve back in 2014.

According to Don Balon, Morata is available for £30m as Zinedine Zidane’s side looks to make a quick profit.

However, Goal states that Negotiations have completely stopped for the 23-year-old after the Spanish side set their asking price at €75 million, meaning any eventual move would have broken the British record transfer fee spent.

Morata became Spain’s main striker ahead of Euro 2016 after scoring 27 goals in 93 games.

Marco Materazzi has revealed what he said to Zinedine Zidane in the 2006 World Cup final on the 10th anniversary of the infamous head-butt.

Materazzi and Italy went on to win the decider 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out after France captain Zidane was sent off in extra time, in what was the last act of his professional playing career.

The now Real Madrid coach turned around and head-butted Materazzi after the Italian defender provoked him with inflammatory words.

Media reports suggested Materazzi had insulted Zidane's mother, but the 42-year-old insists that was not the case.
