11 Dead After US Air Force Plane Crash in Afghanistan

A U.S. Air Force plane crash in Afghanistan left 11 dead on Friday, according to multiple reports.

ABC reports the plane crashed around midnight local time at Jalalabad Airfield, killing those on board – six of which were U.S. service members.

Five civilian passengers also lost their lives.

The U.S. military said the cause of the crash is still being investigated, however one U.S. official who spoke anonymously to ABC said it didn't seem like hostile fire was involved in the accident.

According to CNN, the airport where the plane crashed has hosted the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, but has also been the site of other militant attacks in the past.
